Ha, show, how I've missed you. So much of this episode was absolutely ridiculous, and yet I loved it.

Matthew continues to be stupidly noble at all the wrong times and a rubbish kisser to boot, yet I adore him and Mary so much. Of course we didn't get much of the wedding, b/c Fellowes loves to do that Lead Up To Big Scene Then Cut Away thing, but at least we got the lead up part. Mary's dress wasn't quite as lovely as I was hoping for (mostly just the style of it, was hoping for more modern but eh, 1920, the best 20s fashions weren't there yet) but she looked radiant and happy. Yay! Plus her face when her mother tried to give her sex advice - bwah! She's already killed one guy that way, Cora, don't be giving her any more ammunition.

Edith and Sir Anthony are the most adorable things ever and I want them to have a happy ending, too. His "Have you done something jolly with your hair" bit was SO CUTE. And Edith is so gonna rock those 20s finger waves. I love how she's going after what she wants no matter what. Get you some, girl!

Sybil and Branson...meh. I like Branson on his own or when he's interacting with others (his scenes with Matthew were brilliant!) but I still feel like he's terrible for Sybil. While he had some great points to make, the writing during all his Rant About Irish Politics scenes was just so clunky and awful. Then it all culminated with his line to Sybil about "Don't disappoint me" and now I'm side-eyeing him again. Be cuter and not such a Nice Guy, Branson; you two need to compromise a little. However, the whole bit about you having your drink spiked by the Evil Smirking Villain of the episode was pretty golden, so I'll give you some points there. That went from a cringeworthy scene to one of hilarity and awesomeness - pure DA there.

Robert is still a moron. Of course he lost all Cora's money in stupid investments, against his financial advisors' advice. Of course.

Cora, on the other hand, is better than he deserves. Loved her line about being American - "Have gun, will travel" - and therefore able to survive this.

Not enough Violet, but I'm looking forward to more of her and Mrs Levinson, despite Fellowes' odd views of Americans in general and his obsession with us as revolutionaries. Pretty sure that old "grooms don't see the brides before the wedding" thing was still done in the US at that time (and still is today in tons of places), but what would we do without all those anvilicious lines about change vs stagnation, after all.

They really need to just hang Bates already. Anna is awesome and deserves better. All of their scenes were boring and he still won't help himself at all. He'd rather poke at Anna and be all "Are you SURE you don't doubt me? Maybe I did it." because...who knows, he likes to be a martyr for whatever reason. Just hang him, he'll probably like it.

Not enough of the rest of the downstairs lot, but some good stuff there. Reserving judgment on the new footman until I see more of him. Thomas is still a jerk and has broken up with O'Brien at this point. Carson was OTT rude and judgmental and needs to chill out a bit, jeez. Daisy is still 'pressed, while Mrs Patmore gives no shits. All in all a good start to the season.
